I work at monitoring how I interact with people and sometimes one of my co-workers (subordinates) volition tell me something that I already know almost a state of affairs.

As someone that likes to communicate with them effectively and in a non-demeaning manner, what is the best way to answer?

I don't like to say "I already know that".......or anything like that.

I want those that I work with to experience appreciated and valued( considering they are) and someday they are contributing, I desire to admit information technology. Sometimes I practise take to let them know I am aware of what they were telling me but I want to work on saying it in away that makes them feel like they are contributing only too in a way that let'south them know that I'one thousand on top of things and am aware of the needed information or situation.

I hope this makes sense. I tin clarify if I need to.

Cheers,
Ron

Our Captain is the commander of the aircarft and he knows everything. He's communicating with the Start Officer, the Flight Engineer, the Nav/Com Officer, the Arrangement Engineer, the System Technician, the Cargo Master, the Load Specialist, the Crew Principal, the Mission Officeholder, the Dsispatcher, the heart Director, the Mission Managing director, the Planning Manager, the girl at the commissary, Aldo from the fuel services company, The guy at the mini-mart, Fred the Barber, and the hiomeless guy who comes past evey month looking for some quick piece of work for greenbacks..... Everyone he speaks with and he knows everything before nosotros even know its something to know.

I accept never heard him ever tell anyone outright that he already knows something. What he seems to ever say is one of ii general pharses:
I got some information or it was mentioned earlier well-nigh this but your perspective on this is important.
OR
This was brought to my attention already but you filled in some gaps and its appreciated.

I think thats why he'due south a captain considering although he knows everything (I honestly beleive him and god tweet) no matter what you lot tell him he alwys arrive seem like its was an important piece of information or information technology was some missing information on what he already knew.

I just play dumb, and let them explain information technology all. I get paid the same. And people like to show off how smart they are. Meanwhile...I merely mind...later on all, I may learn new stuff.

I have a coworker that non only likes to tell me things I already know but tells me the same stories over and over and over.... Ugh. After the first few times, I just respond with a non-commital 'uh-huh' like I'm preoccupied with something else (and I usually am). It's non that I don't appreciate their work, it's that they're a talker, with tendencies strongly toward the negative/lament side, and if I requite her an inch, she'll talk all twenty-four hours every 24-hour interval. This has been a strategy I finally arrived at after well-nigh a year of trying everything else.

For subordinates I usually say something like "thank you for the recap, information technology sounds similar you've got it all under command'---reassuring them that I have confidence in them and at the same time implying that I don't want to talk about information technology anymore.
